I had a crazy morning in the MN woods ! I sat there chuggling after this all happened in @ 2 mins time ! After sitting for the 1st hr of the morning in a roosting area & seeing nothing.. I decided to run & gun for my fall turkey. 1 hr later I spotted a large mixed flock of 30 hens, toms & poults out in an alfalfa field. They were heading in the direction of the adjoining timber. So I raced around to cut them off. As I was making the final 30 yd approach to the field edge, I could see a few turkeys 100 yds out in the field thru the brush. Suddenly there was rustling right in front of me & a coyote was walking right at me. I blasted him w my 12 gauge at 15 yds ! He folded instantly. I thought to myself..."well there goes my chance at a turkey but at least I got the yote." So I snuck 20 yds closer to the field edge & the turkeys were still there & obviously on alert. I scanned to the right & there was 3 hens. It was now or never...boom ! I got my fall turkey. 
But suddenly the motionless coyote got up & started trotting off ! So I had to put him down for good w 1 more round ! What a crazy 2 mins in the woods. Maybe that's what keeps us coming back...something new or crazy can happen at any time !
