No, my wife didn't hit me with the frying pan.
I saw some hunting show (Whitetail Hunting Magazine or something like that) Saturday morning, and they had a video from this guy who spotted a buck with a seemingly massive spread between two good antlers. He was running a doe; he kept his head cocked to one side, but otherwise seemed fine. The hunter shot the buck, then discovered the reason for the lean and the spread: the buck was missing his right eye, and his skull was literally fractured in two, apparently from a really nasty fight.
The hunter could grab the antler and flop it back in forth. It's hard to believe the animal could walk around like that, much less chase does! Fascinating.
