I have been waiting for our last deer season to close so I could get my dogs out. It’s been a pretty good start. The snow hasn’t been the best, dry and powdery, but the dogs did their job. I heard two groups reply to my howling and it was game on. I walked two hounds in they found the track after sorting through all the deer. t hollow was filled with hound music and the coyote was up on his feet. It was a great race, they trailed him back and forth for about 4 hours before they caught and bayed him up. I walked in about half a mile, dispatched the coyote and headed home. There’s nothing like the feeling you get when a hound you have raised from a puppy is doing everything you ask of them. It’s like a proud father moment. I’m going to try and post more of our hunts this year, and hopefully there are lots to come.

Nice! A friend of mine uses Plott Hounds. I have a Redbone/Fox Hound mix. Don't hunt him but I do walk him every morning very early so that he can "hunt" down the foxes that run the neighborhood. Keeps him active and stimulated.

We got a little snow north of us and we went up to take advantage. The dogs enjoyed a day out in the woods and we enjoyed the hunt even more. We ended a 2 hour chase with a 37 pound male. It was Woody’s first in front of the dogs. We got a chance to work 2 young hounds and they are really coming along well. I’ll keep you posted on the training results.

Well the coyote hunting has been kicking my ass.So I took a day to fill my bobcat tag. This little hunt only lasted about 30 minutes. I put one dog down on a very fresh but small track and he had it up on its feet quickly and it only made a couple loops in a blowdown and shot him at 40 yards. Time to get back on the yotes.
