Coyote problem

My friend has a coyote problem. The coyotes have killed 2 sheep in the last week at his place. So he wants us to try and get them. I am not a predator hunter and have no experience.

So any ideals on how to proceed?

Nut, Try buying a call that has the instructions, give it a shot. Heck just getting out there and making a racket will scare those coyotes off! Good Luck, we have the Johnny Stewart caller and coyotes seem to come more to the crow tape than the dying rabbit, go Figure! John

Hey nut, The crittr call is a good one to start with I would suggest the standard, there are 3 different calls. Also I don't know where you are from but the mating season is starting here and the coyotes are paired up, a challenge howl and a invitation howl are great to use. Any way to start out with the crittr calls and the circe calls work great. You don't have to blow them out of the woods just call softly at first and then if nothing in about 5-7 minutes blow alittle louder. I have been calling for about 15yrs and now have bought a foxpro and I love it. I do most of my calling by myself and these help out tremendously. HAPPY HUNTING hump

Any varmint call will do , right now they are paired up as they are in heat down here in NM , I imagine they are in your country too . I also have a Johnny Stewerts , but use a KY YI and another quaker boy sqeeker , and one other I bought years ago for around $5 don't even know what it is , but they all work . Be carefull , going out to help out your buddy is gonna end you getting addicted to varmint hunting , its a blast for sure ...

Be careful with that. You call one in and next thing you know your out there every chance you get, buying calls, reading books, breaking your neck when you see one out in the field as you pass at 75, real easy to become addicted. Get a closed reed call, try to sound like something in pain, remember they have small lungs and yours are not (short calls) and hunt a cross wind. Good luck.

My friend is getting a caller(the one with the tapes) tomorrow. I already was discussing what y'all posted and thinks we could have some fun besides trying to save a few sheep.(He knows sheephump )

Tie one of the sheep up, shoot him with a BB gun every few minutes, stay well hidden and when the yote shows up...BAOOOOOOM. hump
