Christmas in Phoenix (hunting?)

Well, the folks have retired and moved to Phoenix (Mesa actually). At this point I am 95% certain I will be spending Christmas in the Valley of the Sun. A couple years ago I was able to chase some quail with FEW (haven't seen him here in quite sometime) and we had a great couple of days. I also got to fish Pleasant with Del which was also a blast.

Any thoughts on other opportunities that might be available when I get down there. I do have to spend some family time, so I need to keep it relatively close to home. I would love to chase javelina with a bow, but if I remeber correctly it doesn't open until Jan.

Head out to Apache Junction and go up to the lakes. Quail and rabbits out the ying yang!!

Well, We can take a day and go shoot varmints, call coyotes....bring a bow and try for a winter deer... All kinds of things..

Deadline for javelina was the 11th or 13th, its possible you could tag along though, I am sure me and a buddy will draw and be down there.

So are your parents going to stay here year round or seasonal? My inlaws are here buying a house right now. Lots of hunting to do that time of the year. I just went quail hunting this last weekend and a friend, his 2 boys, and I ended up with about 25 birds between us in less than 2 hours. I hunt less than 15 minutes from my house in Mesa.
