Carry a stove? Solo?

I'm hunting the opener of Montana General Season in SW Montana and the camp locations I E-scouted are about 9000'. During spring and into summer I got pretty excited about using the Peax Solitude tipi with floor and a titanium stove. Now that my workouts include a pack I'm getting anxious about weight. I really liked the idea of drying things out etc. on bad weather days but I'm hunting solo and plan to carry food for 5+ days. All of my planned camps are about 4 miles and 2000 Vertical feet from the trailhead.

I have an inflatable pad and a 0deg. hybrid bag, would you skip the titanium stove?

Stoves are nice but hard for me to justify if solo. I don’t know how much it weighs. See what your pack weight is with the other essentials and see if you can justify it or not.

I probably wouldn’t. Having said that I see the appeal in wanting to take it.

Personally I wouldn’t even consider packing a stove till late November but that’s just me. If it was going to be real cold, I might consider it but that’s why I have good layers and bags. I have trouble justifying a stove even when I’m not solo.

Unless the forecast calls for wicked cold, skip the stove. I’d carry more weight for warm beverages / hot water bottles at night.

I am the opposite. I hunt solo in a tipi from 1st rifle (mid-Oct) thru 4th rifle (end of Nov) and take a stove with me everytime. I've had some of my worst weather (snow/cold) in 1st/2nd rifle and I am usually camped between 9500 and 10000 ft. I like to be able to fully dry out and warm up at night and first thing in the morning if I don't have to hit the trail before o'dark thirty. And if I am stuck inside all day due to weather, it's nice to be warm doing it. Just my $0.02.
