Blue Grouse around Red Feather Lakes Colorado?

A friend of mine recently relocated to the area around Rustic, Co. He has his spaniel with him, and is interested in chasing grouse while out there. Has anyone run into any birds while big game hunting in that area? Any pointers for him would be greatly appreciated. He's from Alabama and doesn't have any experience with western birds.

There are grouse there. If I were a bigger bird hunter I'd have better advice, but I always bump into them on accident while looking for other things. I guess I'd tell him if he sees one there are probably more around, so go kick the bushes and be ready...

I killed a couple limits of blue grouse just west of RFL this year. Not much help on dogs as I was just walking them up but they are they.
