Had a nice weekend of barley field hunting. The birds are not very consistent this year and are field jumping on me. Between the 3 fields I hunt, the birds will hit one for a few days and when they seem to be patterned they will move to another field for no apparent reason. Very spooky too. But my first bird on saturday had a little something extra for me. Banded in 2009 at Benton Lake National Wildlife Refuge. He was the first of 21 to hit the dirt with Exponentialpi and another longtime hunting buddy. The rest of the weekend wasn't as good, yielding 10 mallards and 7 geese in 2 hunts. The birds didn't show one day, and another day they picked a field they hadn't been in for 2 weeks.

I shot a pintail a couple years ago that was banded in Seward, AK.
