Blacktail success stories......post them up!

I think there are enough people who post on here from "Out West" to warrant a blacktail thread. Post 'em up!

I had to work opening weekend but threw on my rain gear and made a short hunt on my property opening morning knowing the series of storms blowing thru would have the bucks moving. I don't think I hunted 8 minutes......I didn't want to punch my general rifle tag that easily but I have other tags to fill and this guy looked succulent. Turns out he is!



The ultimate reward.... Heart, liver, onions and chanterelles! That's how the poor folks live out here in Gods country.

The first thing I did after reading your post and enjoying the pictures is take a deer steak out of my deep freezer. Congrats to you on your nice buck! My only blacktail hunting experience was in 2007 hunting with a transporter out of Larsen Bay Kodiak, Alaska. To this date it was the best deer hunt I've ever been on. We hit the perfect time of year as the bucks were chasing like mad. I've never seen so many bucks in my life. One of my favorite hunts for sure! On top of my list is a Columbia Blacktail which if successful in Arizona next month will be the last deer I need for the Deer Slam. Looking forward to upcoming posts!

Well my middle son filled his "rifle" tag today. Hunting in close to some houses so the bow got the job done. Fully mature blacktail that won't score much but was an impressive buck to see in the flesh!
