This is a different kind of movie. It takes place in the poverty stricken Deep South. About two people who are really hurting, emotionally, and how they come together and help each other out. I know, it sounds like a chick flick, but it’s about as far from the traditional chick flick as it can get.
Samuel L. Jackson plays an ageing farmer and retired blues musician who’s younger wife leaves him for a younger man. Christina Ricci plays the town slut who finally wants to settle down with one man, but the army ships him off.
Lots of sexual, racial and emotional tension. Lots of four letter words, lots of blues, and believe it or not, lots of laughs.
I liked it.

Good movie...patronizingly sensationalistic title. Ricci makes sleeping in chains look pretty good.
