Bitterroot Mountain Goats

Not so much a post about where to hunt them, but what happened to the population that the Bitterroot Valley used to hold? There is one tag issued here Valley wide. I don't recall numbers but I know there were several tags issued in every drainage on the West side. I have a few folks I want to talk to, but any HTer's have any insight? Buzz? Appreciate any info. mtmuley

Pretty sure the Bitterroot was ground zero for the bitter reality that hunters can absolutely shoot down populations to the point of local extirpation when too many tags are issued. Weren’t there dozens of tags available in several of those units as recently as 20-30 years ago?
