Best whitetail state

I saw my first whitetails in Nebraska. I dont hear much of anything about that State

You looking for meat or a rack? Michigan always seems to have the big bucks, but central Minnesota will have farmers begging you to hunt in their field filling 3 antlerless tags.

Definitely not Texas. Stay away. Nothing here but hoot owls and polecats. Plus, you will get chiggers on your privates.

Didn’t weigh him, but likely in the 280-300 lb range.

I grew up in Nevada never saw a white-tail deer until a few years ago. I found them fascinating. Your opinion on what state has the best whitetail hunting. The most un crowded public land etc

North Dakota and eastern Montana are great for whitetails, offering plenty of public land and low hunter pressure, while northern Wisconsin and Minnesota provide big-woods hunts with minimal crowds.

I love hunting mule deer too. They don't seem to be the smartest critters though, at least compared to whitetails.

Haha, mule deer can definitely be a bit more… stubborn and wary than whitetails. They’ve got that big ears and eyes combo that makes them tricky to outsmart, but maybe not quite the cunning of a whitetail. Still, that makes the hunt exciting, right?

I think Maine would be a fun hunt.

It’s usually not. Lot of road hunters, not a lot of deer. It’s an access state so private places that aren’t posted get a lot of traffic. Good size deer though

I am biased, but East and SE Ohio a fair amount of public land, it does get a bit busy during gun season (Slugs and straight wall rifle).
