Banded teal

Finished the season out strong this morning and got to bring home a little bit of jewelry.
First banded teal that I’ve bagged and the band site is apparently not working this weekend. Anxious to find out where it’s from and how old it is.

Congrats! Be sure to let us know what you find out about it! I band a pile of teal every spring, although most of them are green wings. I’m usually wrapping it my banding season up by the time the blue wings are passing back through.

It’s at least 4 years old and got banded near Yorktown, Saskatchewan. About 1,500 miles from where he was banded to where he was killed and who knows how much further he intended to go. Pretty cool creatures.
