April Showers.

White 4 bottom plow. Way heavier than we had growing up. Plows like a dream. 75hp had no problems pulling it.
I only know one farmer that still uses that style plow around here. I always wondered what the benefit of using one versus "modern" tilling is or if there truly is a difference in the end product.

Wind blown rain at sunset. 30-40 mph.
Wind still up this morning and 42. No good smell so no new rain. 60's today.
At least it's not pushing 90's this week.
April is windiest month in NM.
Usually in teens.
One inch green showing from brown Gramma grass clumps. Morning glory and early wildflowers sprouting.

Rain in forecast later in week again.

Always enjoy hank's brief reports from Lake PieBeGone...cool snapshots my friend.

April winds in full force. Gusts to 45 yesterday, 60-70 mph on way today.
The sunny calm morning on the porch was gone by 10am.
Clouds built to thunderheads by 2pm.

The choice of the gas grill was wise as the ground got spotted by rain while grilling. And gone.
Lightning strike fire in Gila has grown to 225 ac and 0% containment wind blew smoke east and away from my valley.

Bday dinner was 2" ribeye ,grilled corn & tater.
Dotti is 2 and I am now 71......................wow,time flies.

Around noon I checked on the ruckas outside and Dotti had a 8 ft length of 4 inch pvc and dragged it all around the front yard.
Bunny in tube?
Found front section on her pillow when I started grill. Gotta find the pipe and put it back on the pile. Bunny head went into the garbage.
Gotta get more wormer and flea stuff tomorrow.

Flicker drilling on my barnwood gable ends.
The goldfinch pair making a nest somewhere.
Bluebirds about and robins.
I can hear the mockingbird.

Dotti went out a while ago and barked the area clear.
Turning into quite the watch dog.
Been keeping the elk and yotes at bay. Away from the house.
She loves her home.

Luckily she stays close. I have not taken her down to the tanks with me again.
Don't need her finding the prairie dogs and wandering.
Have a whole game to get her in house if I need to go anywhere...just gotta outsmart the smart dog.

Suns up and wind has the aspen leaves
Aspen leaves moving. Pine bows moving.
Planting the riparian plot this week. Winds will die down and next batch of rain possible Thurs./Fri.
Elk tracks everywhere except within 100 yards of loop drive around house.
Been feeding to late in the morning.

Life is good.
Gramma grass is sprouted where any water collected. 1st early wildflowers showing.

Thanks Ken.

34 sunny & finally calm. Heading to 70.
Hummingbird fire grew to 2673 ac. 15 miles east of Glenwood. Maybe the tankers and helos can fly today.

My present to myself was at the gate yesterday. New Stetson palm lid with chin tie.
Headed for Los Lunas and hundreds elk all along the easements to Datil. Half & half herd outside of town. Angus and elk feeding in bottoms. Very dicey drive...

Ordered new headlights for both trucks. At least I could see them driving in sunlight.
28 YO Tacoma hummed up 25 and the cottonwoods are in full leafout. Even passed a 6 truck line @ 90. Humming. Cool.

Elk feeding with lopers moving in. Green grass showing with close inspection.
Got Dotti in and trip to store and PO box.

Rain coming they say tomorrow through Fri.
Life is good on the ranch.
