Anybody know what this is?

My grandpas brother gave him a bunch of his hunting equipment that he can no longer use and he passed some down to me. Between us we probably have over 70 years of hunting experience but neither of us know what this is. Looks like the rubber piece on the end is designed to hold something, but what? I don’t want to open the package because I know it will get lost if I do and it might make an interesting conversation piece till I find someone who knows what it is.

No, it held tha arrow on the flipper, you’d draw and it would pop off.

Thanks guys, sounds like this was old before I even drew my my first bow! Guess it will sit in my drawer until my grandkids are cleaning out my stuff and they can ask the same question.

I still have one on my one bow, lasted since the early 80s. They don't make good stuff anymore
