Anyone running a SmartCap on their hunting rigs care to share their thoughts?

Seems like people either love them or hate them. Found a used one thinking of picking up for similar cost to new fiberglass.

I picked up a used Smart Cap two years ago. I basically like it. More secure for your items at trail head. Metal panels on sides rather than glass. It is much heavier than the fiber glass shell that I have on the other truck. I liked the used price. I probably wouldn't have spent the money on a new one. I purchased additional rack for on top of the cap Heavy duty. I can take the weight of extra spare tires etc.

I just got a fiberglass topper for my truck. That being said, those Smartcaps look pretty sweet...

They even have a giveaway going on. Who knows, maybe I'll have my fiberglass one for sale soon lol

How is dust and water infiltration compared to fiberglass? Do you find the positive pressure vent works well?

Weight should be about 180lbs which seems light for being stainless, I can't imagine my last fiberglass topper was much lighter than that although it had reinforced roof and rack for tent which I never used.

I agree, I like the used price. I also like not waiting half the summer.

Dust infiltration is slightly better than my fiber glass on my other truck. I installed myself and perhaps didn't get the gasket placed that well. I should take it to a dealer for a re install to see if it can be done better.

Had one for several months and like not a lot. I like that I can use magnets to attach things to it. The positive air pressure works better than I thought it would for sure. The large opening on the sides are really nice as well. Overall I like it better than the usual leer I have used.
