I've been running Winchester powerpoint through my 9.3 through lack of availability but have ordered some 285gn norma oryx for it. Wondering what powders handloaders are loading through theirs? I'm tossing up between R19 and ADI2209 (H4350). Through the latter I read you can push it to around 2400fps with compressed loads. I'm probably happier to back off a bit but keen to hear from others.

I've tried IMR 4320, varget, and ramshot big game. All grouped well, but my best velocities came from big game. I get a little more than 2400 fps from my 285 gr prvi loads and 2550 fps from 250 gr nosler accubonds. These are approaching max load, but not exceeding it. It also meters really well through a powder thrower.

It also performs well in my 30-06 and 7x57. Allows me to keep minimum supplies on my reloading bench.

I do use CCI magnum rifle primers with it.

I don't have the 9.3x62, but I do have the 35 Whelen & 9.3x74R and both of them love RL17. Something about midbores and big cases love that slower burning powder with bullets over 250 grains. I'm shooting the 250 grain Hornady RN in the Whelen at 2600 fps and the 250 Barnes TSX in the 9.3 at about 2550 FPS, with the 286 Barnes at 2400 FPS. All with RL 17.

Try something in that burn range - 4350's, RL 17, etc. You may be surprised. Good velocity and accuracy. I've used RL 15 as well with good results.

I have reloaded 286 gr NP's and 285 gr. Norma Oryx's using Ramshot Big Game with good results. Both bullets proved to be accurate with a slight edge going to Nosler Partitions. That said, Norma Oryx factory loads shoot well for factory ammo. I recently started reloading 250 gr Accubonds and settled on Varget. The AB's are also accurate and a bit easier on the shoulder in my CZ 550.

John Barsness has published several loads for the 9.3x62 using these powders/bullet combinations and they were spot on for me. My reloading notes (and reloading equip.) are packed away for an upcoming move, but I think that I was within .5 grains on one load and used his exact published load on another. I'm primarily a hunter and not particularly good shooter but, with all 3 loads, I got just over MOA with 3 shot groups at 100 yards. If memory serves the all were within 1.25 to 1.5 MOA which is plenty good for the way I hunt (I try to keep my shots under 300 yards).

60 grains of RE15 with a 250 grain Accubond shoots superbly out of my Remington 721 rebored by JES.

PPU brass with a CCI200 primer.
