I had a Antelope head mounded 3 yrs ago that i shot in WY.I had it done by my taxidermist in Ky,which has done always done good work before.but it has a bad smell,it smells like a billy goat.is their anything I can do to kill the stink ?? my wife wont let me keep it in the house.

I had one mounted in 2001 that smelled. Taxi wouldn't do anything about it other than say it smells like an antelope. Tried fabreeze and a few other things that didn't work. It now hangs in the garage and still stinks.

Since your mount has a smell I will assume it was not commercially tanned (you could ask your taxi ). The Mckenzie taxidermy catalog (above post) sells products to clean and remove smell. Antelope do have a smell so you will have to work at it to remove the smell.

I would guess the scent glands weren't shaved down during the tanning process. Only true way to fix that is get it remounted.
