Another tikka tinkering project

Here’s another thing for you tikka tinkerers. One week turn around is pretty slick. They are going to swamped in orders. For those that don’t know changing out a tikka barrel is pretty easy. Hardest part is getting the old barrel broke free as tikka torques them even farther than farmer tight.

Wow, that could be a gamechanger. You're underselling the hardest part, though-- my gunsmith cusses me every time I bring in a Tikka action asking to swap the OEM barrel. He had to make relief cuts in the last one in order to get it to budge.

Spray some free all in there and let it sit for a day and put some more in the next day and let it sit for another day. Suck it down tight in the barrel vice and a good smack with a hammer and they break. Though I’ve only done probably 15 of them so I might be lucky. It does take a good smack though. I had to modify my barrel vise to work better on the tikkas

Yeah, lots of people do tikka barrel removal without issue. Not with typical inside action wrenches.

That's a heck of a fast turn around on those and that is the contour I'd select for a hunting rifle near universally so thats a benefit. Minimal savings for me vs having an ACE or Benchmark blank fit by a local smith but getting an ACE or Benchmark Blank in a contour I like as much takes a lot longer.

The other thing is LS Wild has been running a lot of sales on PBB prefits in certain configs for a better price. Probably less chamber/length/fluting options though?

I bought one that was linked and recommended for such tasks. Didn't fit precisely enough for me to feel comfortable with it. Started to roll the edge of a rail with it.

Wanting a new caliber, different twist rate, or if the barrel is just shot out and its time for a new one to regain accuracy. The list goes on.

That makes sense. I doubt I will ever shoot my rifle enough to warrant a new barrel...but a guy can dream.

What made the 6 more appealing than a 25?
