Hello all, I stumbled across this board during the last week of sub zero temperatures while trying to fend off a nasty case of cabin fever. I was born and raised in Unit 50 and currently reside in the coldest corner of the Camas Prarie. I have been hunting since I was 12 when I took hunters ed in 6th grade. Back when it was scheduled curriculum and we did our shooting qualifier in the school gym. That makes me sound old but it was only 20 years ago.

Anyway after hunting with varied success over the last several years I have a new determination and have begun perusing any available resources in an effort to increase my odds next year. Another driving factor is that although my wife has hunted in the past (the last year she hunted she got a bull and I didn't) she has lost interest. Then three years ago we had our first kid. I figured my hunting time might soon be limited but to my surprise I ended up with a daughter who at 3 (almost) is just as content to sit on my lap and watch hunting shows as she is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (Although Mikey has some catchy tunes). I DVR most of them and we spend our mornings together waiting for it to warm up enough to go outside and watching shows like OYOA. After watching an episode the other day my daughter asked my wife when she was going to take her hunting. My wife shot me the "you ruined our daughter" look and then replied probably this fall. So I have now traded in my beloved motorcycle on a camp trailer and will not give up until the three of us are set up at our own little family hunting camp.

Welcome 6 speed. I am also a product of Hunters Ed in school curriculum. I grew up in Salmon and everyone was required to take Hunters Ed. Then in eighth grade part of biology was a fly tying section. We all had vises and our own box of hackles and other things to make steelhead flies and others. Nobody believes me but I'm glad someone can vouch for this old Idaho education.

Look forward to some of you pictures.

Welcome. I took Hunters Ed twice in junior high from our gym teacher who had his eye shot out when he was younger. Glad he pushed the issue and talked the principal into offering it. I think we were the only school around that had it. I have pictures getting on the bus when I was 14 with my bow in hand for archery in Mr. Maynard's class.

Welcome, I also am a newer member on the forums. Its nice when the kids get excited about going hunting with the parents. Good luck on your hunts and improving on your hunting success.

Welcome 6 Speed.

I've spent a lot of my big game hunting from age 12 up in unit 50. Awesome country that I always enjoy getting back to.

I was a Rigby Trojan.
