Hurricane Donald is building strength and has gone from a tropical storm to a catagory 2 over night. The sloughs around here are black with Mallards. Donald seems to have stalled over southern Ab but the next cold front could swell Donald to a catagory 3 or 4 spilling it into Montana. The last 2 mornings we've had frost and fog with a small cold front coming this week. To bad I can't get out and weather the storm until next Friday but my sources afield tell me Donald is now here with real northern sizes involved. :D

Sounds like Axl is going to be busy.

Maybe not this weekend....I think rifle deer opened up there today, and I'll bet that's where Miller is at.

Ok I got off work early and picked up fallingrock and Koda. We had enough time to drive 20 miles jump 1 slough and head back to town. We get there grab for shells and WTF :BLEEP: . The shells are on the bench at home. |oo I check the glove box and come up with a #2 steel 12ga. and a #4 steel 20 ga. Ok good to go 1 shot each. I tell fallingrock green or nothing. We belly to the edge of the slough, pop up and not a duck to be seen. We start back to the truck and I see a flock baring down on us. We hit dirt and they keep coming 200 yrds,100yrds, 50 yrds wings lock and time to shoot. Koda didn't know what to make of this 2 ducks and no water retrieve. Go get the camera and one of the other kids took the memory stick out. Get home and get crap for being late to got to the inlaws, but it was worth it. :D
mtmiller these are a couple of the northerns that are here now.

Very nice. Axl would be happy, but I passed up a pretty good buck this weekend, so it will be back to the hills instead of duckin' next weekend.

Too bad about the shells. It hasn't happened to me yet, but I know one day I will paddled 1/2 hour in the dark, set up and find that I forgot the shells. :D
