I've been trying to get out with my new camera as much as I can. I found these geese at a county park near my home. They were very spooky, so I crawled on my stomach through the snow to get to the edge of the river without them noticing.
After laying there for a while, somebody else walked along and the geese got spooked. This was my first attempt at taking pictures of flying birds, and I found myself guilty of "flock shooting". Add to that, I had a small window between the brush to get on them. If anything was in focus, it was completely luck!
I need to try to find some tame ducks/geese to practice on so I can practice getting the focus point on the bird quickly and get accustomed to what settings I need to have my camera set on. If I'm lucky, one day I might be able to take shots like mtmiller!
