7mm sst bullets

Not knowing any better, I shot my first elk with a .277 SST, hit at least 2 times broadside at 50 yards, no exits, both shots behind the shoulder, well in front of the diaphragm. We used the gutless method but there was significant “sloshing” in the chest. Accompanied with the stink of gut, I am fairly certain that bullet liquified most of the organs in front of the diaphragm and some of them behind the diaphragm. 10/10 would not use on an elk again.
