I'm trying to wrap up some of my lowers into dedicated builds. 458 socom is on my list of things to do, I'm looking for recommendations on a complete upper . Bear creek Arsenal keeps popping up in my searches, but I'm not really familiar with their products ....

Long story but I ended up buying an AR from bear creek arsenal after a friend called and said I needed to order one as they were a smoking deal and he’d include one on his order. 5 minutes later it was a done deal. When they showed up a few weeks later my smoking deal turned out to be a side charging AR. Not what I was expecting and wasn’t happy but it was totally my fault for not paying attention.

I figured WTH, I might as well run it and see how it did. Turns out it’s a tack driver. Way tighter than some myother more expensive ones. Once I got used to the idea of a “non traditional “ bolt charging system I really started to like it. I’m really impressed with mine.

My friends BCA is the traditional style and his is equally good. I think people assume because it’s not top of the line pricing that it’s not good quality. My experience suggests that they are just a smaller company trying to put out affordable stuff without all the hype.

I wouldn’t overlook them if they had what I was looking for in an affordable build.
My two cents

I appreciate the feed back. I looked at BCA uppers and the low price threw me off also. Did you purchase one in .458 or 5.56?

Mine is 556
My buddy’s is in the Wylde
Both are shooters though. Can’t believe how good it runs and it’s tight, no slop anywhere.
I only bought it because with the flash sale and some discount code (not RANDY haha) the whole thing cost me $270. My buddy had been talking about what a good deal BCA is and talked me into it.

Stay away from BCA
See?
I knew someone would have different experience than mine.
I would listen to @p_ham before you take my experience into account. I respect his opinion. He actually knows his stuff and makes a living producing amazing rifles. I’m just a guy who bought a really inexpensive rifle that has turned out to be great. I may be the exception not the rule.

Thanks @Elktrack

I know a few people who are happy with rifles from them, I even have one of their uppers, but probably 80% of the ARs that I get in the shop that have issues are BCA. Their customer service is spotty and their QC is non existant.

Mostly accuracy issues but a few have been cycling problems. 1 had a short chamber and would lock the whole gun up. I've got a tomato stake from them I keep in my toolbox. The throat is so far off that the rifling goes all the way to the case mouth on half the bore.

FYI Midway's "AR Stoner" line is BCA.

I kinda figured that might be the case. For once I got lucky. I’m usually the guy that has the one lemon out of the bunch. Haha. Good to know about the Stoner line.

The funny thing is, I know better than to buy cheap firearms and gear as it always ends up bad.
I was convinced that I had bought some morphodite freak rifle when I saw the side charge handle and was pissed that I jumped into this “smoking deal” so fast. Told my buddy that he could have the POS. He convinced me to try it and I got over it.
The side charge has kinda grown on me. No more stupid forward assist and you can actually do a press check. Kinda cool.

I had a really poor experience with BCA on a 6.5G upper. The thread can be found on this site. They FINALLY made it right after months with a different upper than I ordered. It is ugly, but I must admit that it’s pretty accurate for what it is. I am satisfied with what I ended up with, just not how I got there. I will not buy from them again
