Does onyone have any proven loads for the 150 Gr Nosler Ballistic tip for a 300 savage bolt action? Data would be appreciated. :)

IMR 3031---38.7 gr.
IMR 4895---40.2 gr.
Remington primer and cases
Both loads run about 2600 fps. I think that I measured the pressure at just under 46,000 but don't take my word on that. Both were accurate loads.

You know Mik, I don't... but I hope you don't mind me jumping in your thread to give you a Warm Welcome to the Website........

Just some personal experience in-flux here. At that vol. I'd go with 165's minimum. I've had some issues with 150's, out of a 30 cal. All good kills, but none, and I repeat NONE dropped the game in it's tracks (or even close). Track this way, track that way.....I hunt low lands and swamps. 100 yds of blood trailing and you can usually kiss the Venison stew dreams good-bye. Went to a 180 Nosler BT and it went from tracking, to dropping animals, on the 1st shot! The 165 was my next move. Balanced it out, between range and knock 'em flat!

My largest whitetail, a 9pt, 160#, took a 180 Nosler BT, at 2540 fps, in the front shoulder. Ripped all the way to his rear haunch and settled just under the hide on his far rump, at 175yds. Inside 100 yds and their legs just folded underneath them.

The 300 Savage with good loads will do anything a 308 Win. will do. I've never had a problem with the 150s in terms of knock down on whitetails. I'd go with the heavier bullet for mulies and elk. If I were hunting in swamp country I'd probably go with the 180s.
