This year rifle season was pretty awesome. I started off the week hunting on my own since my wife and kids were coming back from vacation. Started off early Monday morning hunting on my farm on the mountain behind my house. Sat wedged in between a tree and a fallen tree to watch just below the rock face where the deer had made a pretty well worn trail. Saw multiple does and small bucks but around 8:30 a doe came in walking from right to left followed by a buck behind her. They walked in to about 40 yards and once they got into an open spot I was lucky to harvest this nice deer. Easily the biggest deer I’ve shot with anything. Almost a week later on Saturday I took my son to the same spot that I had shot my deer and this time a 9 point walked the same path and he made a tough shot shooting uphill and at about 80 yards off hand. He had to shoot 3 times followed by me finishing him off. All 4 shots were a hit he just didn’t want to go down. Thankful and blessed to enjoy the outdoors with my kids.
