Got very lucky and drew a 121 late rifle bull tag this year. How was the moisture this year around Ely and how do you think antler growth will be this year? I know it’s a great elk hunting area but will it be better or worse than usual for 2022?

I drew a 131,132,108 rifle elk tag next to ya,,,it appears that ely hasnt got any moisture for quite some time,,next to nothing on the snow-tel and drought moniter sites,,i hope they get some rain soon or it could be bad this fall,,i hope things improve cuzz thats problably gonna be my only nevada elk hunt i ever do.antler growth may suffer some this year,as well as limiting water sources in the areas

looks like ely nv has got some weather in now,,im leaving in 5 days so ill have a week almost to scout for bulls,,ive done my research,,e-scouting,marking spots on onx,,but im still very open for any last minute info on 131,132 108 s nevada elk info,,pretty much a o i l type of hunt,,im still assuming to go high first,,hopefully itll be the promised land for 50" mainbeam bulls!!so they say.im going solo, for the entire season if need be.then the pack out by myself is not what im looking forward too if i get one.just a glutton for punishment for this 57 yr old guy,but im gonna give it my best.

Use your glass, you can see antlers from 3-5 miles away with a good spotter. Tripod binos to locate herds. Don't wear out your legs and feet running around scouting, just find glassing points.

Good luck! I havent hunted those units but I've heard it's a good tag.

Good luck. I would suggest you look closely at agriculture boundaries. There isn't very much food up high. Check water sources too. The units near Ely got pounded by rain in August and September.
