2019 MT elk

Was standing next to him by 8:15 opening morning wondering how a season you spend 11 months anticipating is over so quickly. Packed a front quarter out Saturday, went to find a friend camping in the area, came back Sunday for the rest. One trip to bring remainder out: three quarters in a sled, head on my back, neck / backstraps / trim meat on his back. As @tjones spoke to for his pack out, steep slippery sidehills and blow down suck. But having the weight in the sled was better than on our backs.

For the all copper bullet discussion. Hit him twice, recovered one bullet. 168 gr E-tip out of a .30-06. Recovery weight: 167.4, granted some of that weight was dried meat.
