The MCarbo springs work very well. I have 2 X Bolt's...a Maple Medallion in 6.5 CM, and a White Gold Medallion in .30-06, both with MCarbo springs and they are great! I have them both set around 2#, and could have went lower. An easy and inexpensive upgrade.
I have a 6.5 CM in a Browning X Bolt Maple Medallion that I put a Mcarbo trigger spring in. It's a pretty little rifle that that shoots well. Have never used it for hunting yet, too many other choices I guess.
7mm08 and a .410 are comfortable for most anyone to shoot. However, up that to even a .30-06 and a 12 ga, the game drastically changes for a lot of people. Some people really struggle with recoil.
Agreed. I am fortunate to be one that recoil doesn't really bother me or hurt my shooting skills. To me, I know that certain rifles/calibers are going to give me more of a poke to the shoulder and I just deal with it. Probably the hardest kicker that I have owned was my Mark V in .300 Wby...
I owned a Weatherby Mark V in .300 Wby mag for many years...great rifle! When I sold it last year, I got 3 times what I paid for it new. I sure wouldn't consider the .300 Wby mag obsolete!
I have 2 Leupold VX-5HD's Firedot Duplex 3-15x...1 in 44mm, 1 in 56mm. I have compared them side by side in low light. There is a noticeable difference although it's small. Then again, I am 68 years old.
I have 6 Leupold's with duplex Firedot...VX-R's, VX-3HD, and VX-5HD's, love 'em! Also had a Leica Amplus 6 2.5-15x 50 L4a but sold it. All Leupolds for me now.
Within the last couple of years I have bought 2 new model 70's. A blued/walnut Featherweight in .308, and a Super Grade stainless/walnut in .264 Win. mag. Both are really nice rifles...great quality, excellent fit and finish, highly accurate with good triggers. I would rate them right up them...
When I had my Mark V Sporter in .300 Wby mag, it shot 1" groups with Weatherby Premium Ammo in 165 grain Ballistic Tips. Yes, it was a mule kick off of the bench, but recoil doesn't bother me as much as it does some people. Just don't need a .300 Wby mag for where I hunt, and I made a nice...
