    Mountain Biking Setups for Hunting?

yes, this is a major reason I'm asking the question... riding w/ a pack on doesn't seem like the best strategy so was curious as to where people ended up. Seems like there ought to be a non-trailer solution with some type of front+rear racks? For probably 90%+ of my use case, there are decently...

    Mountain Biking Setups for Hunting?

Amazing... exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Interesting to hear prefer full suspension... so many of the "gravel" and "bikepacking" advertised bikes are no suspension or at most front suspension. What bike are you using now? I'm curious if the cheap walmart special bikes hold up to...

    Mountain Biking Setups for Hunting?

I searched and didn't see any threads dedicated to this topic... let me know if I missed them! I'm curious who uses a mountain bike to get into non-motorized access areas and what your setup is like? A lot of the area I hunt in Oregon is private timberlands open to public, non-motorized access...

Yet another adult-onset hunter... hello from NW Oregon!

Thanks! I'm in NW Oregon but drew the SW spring bear tag, so I'll be down in that area at some point this year.

Bucks of the Rut - Oregon Blacktails

I finally got around to checking trail cams at the farm. They'd been soaking since before I killed my buck in late October. The rut brought a lot of never-before-seen bucks cruising through the farm, which was pretty cool to see. Next year I'll be putting in for a tag that will allow me to hunt...

My first big game animal down - Oregon Blacktail

yeah, no baiting, but we can use electronic calls... might try that as a last-ditch effort if I can find someone brave enough to tag along ;-)

My first big game animal down - Oregon Blacktail

Decided 1 year ago to start hunting at the ripe old age of 38. Just a few days after my 39th birthday, I managed to harvest my first animal, a nice Oregon blacktail buck. I put in about 20 total days of hunting to fill this tag on both public and private land. I ended up taking this buck on our...

    Chasing (Oregon) Roosevelts

Day 5 We woke up early and went straight back to the cut where we had the bull the night before, arriving just before shooting light. Over the next hour or so, Thomas let out a number of locator bugles, but all we got in return was silence. We did eventually spot a few cows feeding in the...

    Chasing (Oregon) Roosevelts

Day 3 We woke up on Day 3 having heard some bugles throughout the night and into the early morning from what sounded like the creek bottom in the cut below camp. Thomas and I formulated a plan to go after these bugles but were quickly thwarted by the wind. Calling an audible, we went around to...

    Chasing (Oregon) Roosevelts

This past September I got to tag along on my first-ever archery elk hunt with my new friend Thomas of Chasing Roosevelts Outdoors. I offered to film his hunt for him in exchange for letting me tag along, ask questions about elk hunting, and generally learn as much as I could. Needless to say, as...

Oregon Fall Bear Strategy (vs Spring Bear)

awesome! you definitely should grab a tag. at $16.50 why not... during this past spring season I had the SW tag and saw 4 bears, but didn't get a shot opportunity. Learned a lot and had a ton of fun... pretty sure I'll be a bear hunter for life!

Oregon Fall Bear Strategy (vs Spring Bear)

thanks for chiming in... seems to be the theme of bear hunting... "find the feed, find the bears" ... I was out in Tillamook State Forest this past weekend and came across quite a bit of fresh bear scat... still all grassy though. Berries seem to just now be popping at lower elevations (sub 1100ft).

Oregon Fall Bear Strategy (vs Spring Bear)

Most of the information I've gleaned about bear hunting has been almost exclusively about spring bear. Specifically in [western] Oregon, the advice was always find the greenest grass in south-facing timber cuts. Is the strategy for fall significantly different? Or is it just swap out green grass...

    Still hunting CO black bears

I'm a newb so don't have any direct advice from experience. However, I have spent quite a bit of time talking to bear hunting experts and trying to learn as much as I can (since my first 3 tags ever are bear tags). My first question would be how fresh is the bear sign you've come across. If...

Randy Newberg on Matt Rinella's Podcast

"trying" to be an influencer and actually making money off your content are two very different things... most people have a very uneducated view on how social media (especially youtube) monetization works and think all these guys are rolling in cash when it's simply not the case. Anyway, in my...
