I think you are correct! I would love to find the owner to hear when this bull was shot. I have to think it was from early archery. Maybe it was in there from last season?
Hello all, Reviving this 10 year old thread!
I drew a cow tag for this group of units this year for the Oct. 1st opener. I have done some E-scouting and I was planning to go scouting this weekend in unit 77 and unit 79. However, I see the harvest reports for unit 79 are LOW. Usually under 5 cow...
Coming from the west. Second time hunting elk. First time was in Utah. Spent most my time glassing. Found some the last morning but couldn’t close the gap before dark.
Good afternoon everyone, I drew an Idaho unit 44 early season rifle Bull elk tag. I’ve been doing a lot of E scouting and found some trail heads I want to check out. My season opens October 1st. Anyone else hunt this unit with this tag since the season date change? Are the bulls still bugling...
Thank you all for all the info! After several pm’s and posts I think I’m going to try a different unit. I’ve narrowed it down to 3 other units. Going to do some homework over the next couple weeks and see if I can find other post on unit 511,4, and 74.
Hey all,
I’ve got 4 points and looking at 3rd-4th rifle season in Unit 3 near Craig. I’m not looking for a monster but a solid 4x4 buck. I see there are lots of roads throughout most of the public land. My question is are you able to get off the road and find older bucks in drainages/draws...
Be grateful for what you have. At least you can hunt elk in your state every year. I’m not saying they are perfect nor defending them giving tags to guides and land owners. There is obvious corruption. My money hopefully will be used for access yes and other access projects as well.
Hey I didn’t mean to start a fight on here. I appreciate what you two have said so far. I need to refine my question. I will get on FWP. I need to look at tag and harvest ratios. Then cross reference with public land. I just don’t know if they show private vs public kills. I will do my homework...
I come from a state that I will never hunt elk in that is why. Not to mention the money should go to a good cause. I have received great advice from other residents in other states. I guess when they say Montana residents are the least helpful/friendly towards non residents they are accurate in...
