Custom Straight-Wall Rifle Problem
I’d just keep it as is and apply for nonres tags in states that require straight walls. -
Rossi R95 Review
I’ll say that I think of the Marlin clones, the S&W 1854 oughta have a consideration. Yeah it’s expensive, but the 45 colt variant I had was excellent. All reviews seem positive for the 30-30 and 45-70 variants as well. Can get em in stainless and “blued.” -
Your preference with trigger lbs?
The single set trigger on my Sako goes from light to stupid light and that’s pretty nice. The Bix n Andy on my 280 AI is set probably around 1-1.5 lbs. When I got it, it was set at 5 oz and that was way too light. -
I'm Trying to Decide on a New All Around Rifle.
They have lots of models with fluted barrels. In fact, most of their barrels in the 90 lineup are. Also, and I have told you this before, they use the same exact barrels on Tikkas as they do on Sakos. They do not discriminate between the actions when choosing a barrel to complete the task. It... -
What I learned today
I just take a sized case, spit the neck with a cutting wheel on my dremel, and seat a bullet like that. Has just enough neck tension to where it’s easy for the bolt to close, but it won’t get the bullet stuck in the lands when extracting- nhenry

This is my previous 280 AI built on a 700. Copper cerakote. -

Shoots well. All but one were 5 shot groups. Just used Hornady Precision Hunter for baseline testing. Keeps POI even as it gets hot -

I think the Lee 280 AI dies are the non-SAAMI variant that is not compatible with SAAMI brass or chambers. I’m just gonna go out on a whim and say the RCBS imp 280 is a better design for feeding and function. Nearly to the same velocities as a 280 AI. That’s not important to this convo but...- nhenry

RCBS will most likely. They have a bunch of non-SAAMI stuff, like 280 RCBS Imp. No reason to stay away from the RPM when they’ve already released dies in the other two in the line- nhenry
