Another vote on the Tikka. Lots of new bullets to choose from for the 270 that really bring an already great cartridge to a new level. Especially if you're a reloader. I am biased however by the fact I am a big fan of the old workhorse. She just gets the job done.
another vote here for Caribou bags. Been using mine for several years and have no complaints at all. Still going strong. Packed out several deer and bear and one elk with them.
man... had I seen this post last week you would have been shipping it to my neck of the woods. I just bought the same setup for my southpaw daughter. Good price on that setup by the way!
His hooves make him look like a old man but my best guess is around 3.5, Where he lived was pretty much straight up and down and rocky. I think he may have torn himself up pretty good chasing does around that mountain during the rut. I killed a older buck back in there around 5 years ago who...
these new HDPE and plastic boats dont hold a candle to the royalex boats. I wish they would allow someone to start making them again with that recipe. I have had several dozen canoes over the years made from everything to fiberglass, wood, aluminum even a canvas one at one time and as far as all...
I do a lot of canoe hunting. Not necessarily out of one but to get to areas I otherwise could not reach. The one below is a ultralight Northstar Northwind Solo great little boat to get in and out of places. I use it for the Boundary waters and lakes. If I am floating down into public land on...
I think these are Virginia, Wyoming, Minnesota BWCA, Adirondacks and the UP. One things for sure. Every place I have ever made camp had something special about it. One of these days I need to dig out the old hard photos shot on disposable cameras and a couple of external hard drives and make a...
Sounds like a dream of a rifle. Ive always had a soft spot for Sako rifles. I have one I have similar feelings about. Its a Ruger RSI Mannlicher in 308. She is a dream to carry and comes to the shoulder like a well fitted shotgun. Weights around 6.5lbs with a fixed 6 Leupold. Its one rifle I...
with that weight goal... the 7-08. I have a love hate relationship with ultralight rifles. But at the end of the day. You carry a rifle a lot more than you shoot it. Unfortunately for me I have had more quirkiness out of all but one ultralight rifle I own with them being finicky on what they...
peanut oil is the way to go. Lard and Tallow works too but gives it different flavor. As far as the fish goes... depends on the fish. You can make a good breading with cornmeal a small amount of flour and some paprika, black pepper, garlic powder onion powder and seasoning salt all mixed...
We built ours in 2016 on a decent amount of acreage. After reading this I looked up what my house is worth just to entertain myself. I live in the middle of nowhere and it blows my mind somebody would be willing to pay what they actually say its worth. I think we had maybe 188000 in it up to the...
I have hunted feists for squirrel and sheds (they can easily be trained to do both) most of my life and don't recall seeing too many breeders west of the Mississippi except for a feller in Arkansas maybe 20 years or so ago that had some. If you have never had one be prepared to have one the...
sounds like a what-a-saw or a Sven saw...I'm quite partial to the what a saw and the fact I can put 2 wood cutting blades and a bone saw all in the same cutout and it not weight anything. Its an absolutely wonderful piece of equipment.
Its hard to beat a Mannlicher stock for beauty! I have had this one for many years. Rechambered it to 338 Federal a few years back right after I refinished the stock. Its a well balanced light and wonderfully easy gun to shoot well. Makes one heck of a mountain gun. I have neglected carrying it...
Deluxe version of a 520... They were nice shotguns at the and a John Browning design. Very smooth actions. This one looked like it was well loved at one time. Very cool shotgun!! are you thinking about getting it back up and running? Doesnt look like its terrible shape... nothing on there...
If I said inches didn't matter I would be lying to myself. I pass up smaller critters every year in hopes of something bigger. Sometimes the dice roll in my favor sometimes they don't on that end but, I still love every second of it. Whether I go home empty handed or not. All the little things...
does it say anything on the bottom?
at first glance it appears to be a brass shotshell but without a size comparison to something or a look underneath its a tough guess. Lots of old school shotshells for revolvers and such were made like that but then again lots of shotshells for shotguns came...
