    Garmin Inreach Explorer or 66i

The explanation I’ve heard is disabling new models because of a royalty (probably not right term) that they wanted from OnX and got denied.

    Garmin Inreach Explorer or 66i

From looking at some of the current issues being had with OnX chips on the 66i and Explorer and the fact they say outright that they aren’t supported on their website I am inclined to go with the InReach mini bundle at Costco.com and a Dark energy battery pack to run maps on the phone. Imagery...

    Garmin Inreach Explorer or 66i

Trying to bump this thread as I have the same questions, I can’t always reliably charge my phone to keep my maps going and GPS with ONX and inReach would go a long way to calm the wife down and keep me safe out here in AK.

Some states that allow bait you can look up a map of stations to avoid burning someone’s spot. You can end up with harassment issues that way though. Would help eliminate areas when escouting. I’m looking at 16 for now.

How Heavy is Your 13 day Sheep Pack

Brady Miller on goHunt has some pretty slick weight saving food ideas and stuff you can find on YouTube. I did his stoveless food method for 6 days back in Pagosa Springs CO. It wasn’t even cold out and the lack of hot food was a bit soul crushing. An emergency food cache left on a scouting...

The lack of ATV for me has driven my hunt choices to archery only and vehicle restricted areas. It’s one of the things that will make bear baiting a logistical challenge. No shade being thrown at the guys with ATVs but it sucks to hump a few miles back only to have a guy on a quad with a...

I am anxiously awaiting results too! Although I have an archery Caribou hunt set up for October and am still toying with the idea of scouting the rest of the winter and early spring for a location to bait black bear. On top of all that I have some dirt cheap plane tickets to Denver in April and...

    Just Got To Anchorage

I'm a career Army guy and after 18 years of trying I have finally been stationed in Alaska! I had a great time in Colorado sucking wind and chasing bugles but after eating tag soup on every critter except turkeys I am excited to be here. I've been getting back into hunting after a hiatus in the...

    I've about had enough

Randy, I grew up northwest of your hometown in a whitetail and moose hunting family. I have literally not hunted once in the 18 years since I joined the Army. Now because of passionate public land hunters like you sharing the joys of the hunt I have picked up a bow and am planning my first elk...

Willing Packer New To Western Hunting

Hello , Dave here, new to western hunts and new to Colorado since Uncle Sam sent me here. I grew up in the Midwest and love what true hunting and the backcountry are all about. I live on the front range near Fort Carson and would love to help any successful hunter within a few hours drive pack...
