Picatinny rail or reg bases for mark v and vx6 scope?

The standard rail can be removed without removing the rings. Approximately 30 years ago I had a rifle built and had all of the metal including custom floorplate, scope base, rings and screws finished in high polish blue. Never fired the thing. Cartridge is .280 Remington. When I mounted the...

Picatinny rail or reg bases for mark v and vx6 scope?

So I was going to start a thread, but instead I'll ask here. Tube size? 1 inch or 30mm, what's the more popular? Base type? Pic rail or something like a 1 piece standard base with windage screws and dovetail. A lot of folks seem to be weight conscious about their rifles and standard bases...

    How's the pronghorn population recovering?

I guess I brain farted and won't be applying for any doe tags. My only shot is for a type 2 tag.

    How's the pronghorn population recovering?

Last year it was type 7 this year type 6. In the past there was a type for a specific area within area 29 which is type 7. Are type 2 and type 6 antelope tags valid on both public and private land or just private land? What's the purpose in specifying that type 2 is valid on private land...

    How's the pronghorn population recovering?

Just checked the regs and there are 50 lousy type 6 doe-fawn tags for all of WY area 29 and 300 type 2 tags. Never thought I'd live to see the day when you might need a preference point to draw a tag in area 29. Struck out on the type 6 last year. $1200 for a nonresident special antelope, YIKES...

    .25 Creed! But Why?

I have a 25 x 284 that I had made in about 1992. It has a 12 twist barrel. Took it out a few weeks ago and it shot 117 grain Sierras about as well as it did Barnes 80gr TTSX. I recently picked up a few Lapua 6.5 x 284 cases and they chambered as is in my rifle.

    .25 Creed! But Why?

Agreed and I think they even offered some ammo and had cases so headstamped. No ammo offered from Remington, Federal or Winchester that I ever heard. No commercially made rifles either. Quality Cartridge offered/s brass headstamped 6.5mm-06, but I don't know if they still produce it. The 6.5-06...

    .25 Creed! But Why?

I recall an older article in maybe Handloader or Rifle magazine [possibly by Ron Spomer] discussing the 6.5 x 06. The parting shot was if you had or could get a .270Win why would you want or need a 6.5 x 06. Dang good cartridge IMO.

    .25 Creed! But Why?

Yet for as long as it's been around as a popular wildcat no major manufacturer of firearms or ammunition has chosen to legitimize the 6.5-06.

    6.5-284 Norma vs. 6.5-284 Winchester

I want to use 6.5 x 284 in a 25 x 284. My 25 was made in late 1991 or early 92. I assume [and maybe wrongly so] that at least the body of the reamer was made to SAAMI specs. Back then I acquired 2 die sets, a Redding neck die set a RCBS FL set. I also got a RCBS file type trim die. I was able...

    6.5-284 Norma vs. 6.5-284 Winchester

Does anyone know if 6.5 x 284 brass is available nickel plated?

    Scope Ring Honing

It should be the operator's responsibility to see that his fixture is properly maintained and his tooling like drill bits, etc. is properly sharpened unless quantity slop over quality work is deemed good enough. Why couldn't Remington even get the handle properly soldered to the bolt body such...

Picatinny rail or reg bases for mark v and vx6 scope?

Pic rails supposedly eliminate the need to lap rings. I like the look of the Leupold Mark 4 rings, but the steel ones plus your scope will add noticeable weight.

    Scope Ring Honing

Remington actions are/were mass produced usually [I'm guessing] CNC equipment. So what do you think it might add costwise and timewise to produce actions that are within "blueprint" specs? Such actions should pretty much align right on the gnat's a$s with scope bases and mounts, assuming the...

    Scopes for lefties??

Just recently purchased another scope from Schmalts a Leupold 182502. Since it has a AO, I've mounted it like I normally would. Might try to hunt with it if I draw an antelope tag.
