I am extremely interested in how the presentation by John Organ during this next commission meeting August 10-12 on the NAM. I really hope it will help open up the eyes of the middle ground commissioners as to why things have been done the way they have been historically. Even on the spring bear...
I have always wanted the super deer tag. You can practically hunt with a rifle from Aug 15-Nov 30 if you wanted to. If I had the tag would definitely hunt the early rifle hunts before the elk, moose, and antelope rut kicks off and then pick the deer back up after you have finished with all of...
Ran a 5k this weekend for this first time in a very long time. Managed to run it in 23:57 which I was pretty pumped about as I haven't done much for cardio over the winter and instead was lifting weights.
I keep applying just for the chance. If you want to have a busy fall and hunt on quality hunts (or what I myself believe to be quality) - then I believe you have to apply in as many buckets as you can. I submit a whole bunch of applications per year, but most of the time I am lucky enough to get...
That is where I am leaning. I don't "have" to hunt elk in CO every year. I hunt all over and have just accumulated points in CO. I look at some units I could draw and they seem decent, but I also have heard a lot of good things about the unit I keep waiting for. Might wait all that time and not...
I am pretty well invested into my CO elk points - in the middle of no mans land. I have always had a unit that I wanted to hunt but I am 3-4 points away now as it sits. With the changes that seem to be headed down the pike, am I being wishful thinking I can get that tag in the next 5 years or so...
Agreed, I am ok that they may never draw them - but having a chance to draw them and a choice to apply in that manner is what counts. Again, all my opinion and as a NR my opinion shouldn't hold up as much as a R would.
I am not saying the lower point tiers - and I'm not saying they deserve to hunt a 44 3rd either. But as it stands, they will not ever even have a chance. Even if only 25% of the tags went random, then at least there is a chance.
Colorado's best in my opinion (for what it is worth)option is going to have to start offering some random tags similar to what AZ did. True preference works great if you get in on the ground floor, but the fact that as it stands my kids will never have a chance to hunt most of the units if they...
I hunted region G in 2017 and had a pretty tough hunt. I did not really see any good bucks of age. I had been in there in 2015 and saw a lot of deer in the same area, in 2017 it was a ghost town.
Since my January 5 post I have done a pretty good job I feel. Have dropped 23 pounds so far, but more importantly I feel a lot better. Dropped most of the extra weight I have been carrying and feel good moving around again. This far into it, I am not tempted nearly as much to make poor food...
The suspense is killing me, put in as a group for a couple of different late rifle tags and hit. Ready to start researching, but not sure which unit to focus on yet!
I'll play - avoid putting on the tax season weight I tend to gain as a CPA and drop about 20 pounds to get back to my hunting season weight. Put on some muscle between now and season and really focus on my lungs and legs.
