when someone throws my stuff away like that, it is usually me... I have been very lucky to have an understanding wife, who does a better job of leaving my stuff alone than I do...

    New season - Gen tag

I would check the rmef museum in Missoula. I hear they have just what you are looking for, and they even have the taxidermy already done. No worries about cwd either... Very easy access, but there may be logistic difficulties I haven't considered.

What's your elk rifle and cartridge?

I got a Sako av back in high school chambered for 7rm. It never shot great with it’s 22 inch barrel. I put a 26 inch lilja after I shot out the original, and now it will shoot 168vld and 160 accubonds at 3k FPS into a teacup waaaay further than I’m willing to shoot an elk

    My Elk hunt.

Thoughts on taking my 70 year old Dad Elk Hunting

it is completely doable, depending on what your goal is. if cows are ok, you are good. You may be lucky and get a bull close to the road, but cows are more plentiful and easier to find. My dad and I went for cows and were able to connect. It took us the rest of the day to pack them out and...

    Minimum Caliber For Alaska

All joking aside, anything you would use for deer and elk would be reasonable in Ak, with the possible exception of brown bears. Bullet choice and placement are more important than cartridge in most cases.

    Minimum Caliber For Alaska

700 nitro will work great at 1000 yards, just need to get that 5000 moa base made. :hump: just keep in mind that the bullet will be somewhere near the tops of the trees at the peak of its trajectory so there will be some middle ground between pbr and 1000 yds that will be difficult to hold for.

    Randy...step on it.

Way too cool!! Waiting for the video Cherish the time with your son, it’s the best part of the hunt regardless of what hits the ground at the end of the bullet flight...

Half way through my third season

i'm the last person to be giving advice,as there are many on this board that are way better at hunting than I am, but I have seen way more animals with my binoculars than with my feet. the guy that taught me to hunt would park himself in a likely spot for several days and not move. there needs...

    Elk .... Let's see them!!!

My first Wyoming bull. I watched Big Fin do it on YouTube, and took his message to heart. We collected our gear, did our e-scouting , and did the diy thing. It was my first out of state excursion but definitely not my last!!
