    Best bino harness and why

I really like my AGC Hybrid Max. It’s extremely comfortable and has some extra pockets/storage space for a few small items. It doesn’t get in the way shooting my bow and stays in place when I need to move quickly.

    Seany-boy's first deer.

The smile is priceless! Helps us remember what’s truly important.

Hunting pack for a growing youth hunter

I picked the Sawtooth up at Scheels on a Father’s Day sale a few years back.

Hunting pack for a growing youth hunter

I concur. I was able to adjust my old Mystery Ranch Sawtooth 45 to fit my 12 year old. Very easy to adjust the torso length too.

    Keep your bow in tent?

I hang mine in a tree regardless of the weather. Never had any problems.

Good tent for 3rd season elk CO

We used our buddy heaters at 11,000 feet this past fall with no issues.

To move units or not to move units and other questions

I’d stick to the same area. Although my crew has been skunked for 4 years , each year we hunted the same area our opportunities increased with several close calls. Had to hunt a new area this year due to fires and my group really struggled. We eventually saw elk but spent a lot of time trying to...

Budget Bow - Trick it out or leave it be?

My niece has a stock Infinite Edge and has taken several deer with it. She probably shoots it better than most hunters that start shooting their higher end bows a month before season. Not saying more expensive accessories don’t help but I’ve found there’s no substitute for practice. I practice...

    Stabilizer size and weights?

I played around with different stabilizers/weights over the years and ended up putting my old 6 inch limb saver back on for a little dampening. The longer ones actually hurt my consistency a bit. That said, a couple of my hunting partners shooting improved quite a bit with longer stabilizers. We...

    Which headlamp?

I go with the inexpensive Coast or Energizer headlamps. Batteries last just as long as my hunting partners expensive headlamps and the light is plenty adequate for tracking or getting in and out of the woods.

First time elk hunting, Archery or rifle?

I was in the same boat and chose archery. The most exciting hunting I’ve ever done. I’m 0 for 4 on harvesting and can’t wait for September. Just interacting with elk during the rut makes the hunt worthwhile.

    Colorado unit 21, 22, 30, 31, 32 info

Colorado Hunting Atlas should have everything you’re looking for. Play around with the layers and you’ll find a plethora of information. https://ndismaps.nrel.colostate.edu/indexM.html?app=HuntingAtlas

    Varying arrow length question

I’ve done quite a bit of shooting and in my experience you won’t notice a difference. Even when long range shooting your point of impact should remain unnoticeable.

    Rain pants vs gaiters?

Both. That said I have yet to pull my rain pants out of my pack on a September western hunt. I still carry them just in case.

    Bow Vise

No experience with the RS but I really like my OMP and it holds my bow solid in multiple positions.

    4 season tent

Picked one up for a November muley hunt in Montana last year. Worked good but it was a little chilly when the temps were in the single digits. Might have been warmer had I used a larger buddy heater instead of the small little buddy heater I had. Had to get up in the middle of the night to fire...

    Bow site for old eyes

I also have aging eyes. I have a five pin slider, mouth kisser and I tied a small ball of serving on my string that touches the tip of my nose for another reference point. Got the idea from a YouTube video I found when my eyes started to get worse. I’ve had good consistency with that setup so far.

    Crispi, Hoffman, Schnee’s Boots?

I used the Crispi Guide GTX this year. They’re the most comfortable pair of boots I’ve owned. Cleaned and treated them a few times after heavy use this season and they still look close to brand new. I’ve needed Leukotape on hot spots every year I’ve hunted out west until I got the Guides. Never...

Montana deer units 704 and 705

That was my approach when I brought my 10 year old to Montana this past November. Took home a doe and a nice young buck we shot on the last day we were there. Saw lots of deer and my boy had an experience he’ll never forget. The smiles on his face were priceless and the meat was excellent.
