It’s expensive but it works. The “worth it” is a personal choice I guess. It’s worth it to me because it kills the hell out of birds in the 50-60 yard range.
We hunted 4 days south of Casper and the only snake I saw the whole trip was in the Fish and Game office parking lot in Casper itself. Did find a lion killed Mule deer doe buried under a bunch of grass on the bank of the North Platte and no shortage of cactus.
I have Tikka’s but not the compact. No issues at all with any of them. I do have an older Remington model 7 7-08 and it is one of my favorite rifles I have ever owned. 7-08 goes great in a 20in barrel. Good luck.
We just wrapped up our Wyoming antelope hunt and were able to punch all 3 tags without too much trouble. Other than Kansas City being totally booked up on hotel rooms the trip out was uneventful. We started in Laramie and set out the first morning ready to hunt but more of a scouting day, or so...
I believe Toyota is in the process of replacing most of the 22/23 Tundra engines. So, it may be possible to find a good value on a used tundra with higher mileage and a new engine.
I was in US government class my senior year of HS. I had gotten up early that morning and ran and finished reading “Band of Brothers.” I was a little too patriotic for my own good.
My percussion rifles, 2 45’s, a 50, and a 54 cal-all hawkens. My old Glenfield 30A 30-30, and my grandpas old Remington 742 carbine in 30-06. All of these guns are special to me but I rarely shoot any of them.
I was leaving work early while working nights, so 3-4am. It was very foggy but a full moon. I topped over a hill in town and broke through the fog bank and circling above the town was a smaller than normal 50-100ft long, white, unmarked blimp maneuvering over the town. I pulled over and watched...
I hear you mtmuley, and totally agree. I need more of a recommendation on fit and reliability now that I really think about it. I’m leaning toward the barksdale, schnee’s, or another set of meindl’s.
My old Cabela’s Miendl’s have went their last mile and since we drew antelope tags, I need replacements ASAP. I like the 10in boot, the stiff sole, and the idea of cactus not poking me like they do in a lighter boot. Back home I whitetail and turkey hunt in the mountains and those Miendl’s were...
I don’t have any but I assume so. They look better than than the Gen 1. The one I had was clunky and didn’t offer an improvement over the factory, in my opinion.
I have used their stuff for years. No issues other than I did not care for the Gen 1 metal magazines. Other than those, everything else has been awesome.
I have a few. I have owned several. None have shot bad. All have been great rifles. I guess it really depends on what want out of a rifle. My favorite has turned out to be the Superlite in 308.
I appreciate all the replies and help. I’m planning on documenting this trip pretty well since this may be our one and only trip where we are all together. Hopefully it makes for some good reading this fall.
Actually 2 out of the 3 of us are, I didn’t even think of that. We are looking at some other units in the central part of the state for that same reason.
I need a little advice here. I have been planning on taking my retired uncles to Wyoming for their first pronghorn hunt this fall. We have been buying points since my last trip several years ago and I thought we had 9 points as a group. I was going to put in for 27 since I am familiar with the...
