Taxidermy For My MT. Mt. Goat Help..

Taxidermy is like anything else. You get what you pay for, but a high price tag doesnt mean its good work. The better taxidermists charge a lot, because its worth it! They are usually very slow on turn-around time, because they have lots of work to do and take their time and make sure its...

    Super adjustable bows?

Ill give you some really good advice. I worked in a pro shop for a few years and I helped a lot of guys get started. Regardless of the bow you choose, make sure the draw length fits you! If its to short, youll never hold steady. If its to long, youll hit your arm, and thats no fun at all! Next...

You can find anything from skunks to elephants for sale on there. http://www.taxidermy.net/forum/index.php/board,5.0.html I bought several capes on ebay a fow years...

    Back country cape care

I agree with everything you said, to a point. The main topic was caring for a cape when it will take a few days to get it in a cooler. Your right that most taxidermists would rather turn the ears and lips and nose, and eyes themselves because you can make mistakes pretty easy. Those mistakes are...

    Back country cape care

Lmao. I guess it worked. I had a hog come in the same way. It wasn't cut with a chain saw, but it was the whole front half, all the extras included.

The chain saw deer? Thats what I thought. I know how much mess a chain saw makes with wood chips. I cant imadgine what it was like with deer blood and guts!!

    Back country cape care

My take on fleshing is everything that is not skin, on the inside, needs to come off. Any meat, fat, connective tissue, or what ever else, needs to come off. The idea is to get the cape as clean as possible so the salt can do what it does. The salt does a few things. The biggest thing that it...

    Back country cape care

You could. It doesnt really have to be a screwdriver. Anything with a flat tip will work. I know taxidermists that use a chisle, or something kinda like that. When I started this thread, I needed info on how to care for a cape in the wilderness. I learned to just plan on packing in some salt...
