Me either! I was preoccupied and shouldn't have responded at all or got caught up in the stabs. For some odd reason there was/is no editing function active with my account.
Wow, if hunters and trappers took 1500 wolves in that short of time there must be a lot of wolves in that area. The success rate of wolf harvest is typically pretty low.
How can we get the ESA revamped?, it sounds like that is the best way to cut down on the continual litigation's.
Well obviously my verbiage and semantics where poorly chosen and I've painted a picture of a person I am really not. We make no progress by personally attacking each other and fighting among ourselves.
I'll try again then. I'm trying to convey a worst case scenario that the anti hunting crowd tends to try to capitalize on.
I wouldn't hesitate to shoot a GB if I came across one in the wilderness, they are unpredictable, so why take the chance. Also letting them go unscathed would just...
Just when our Elk have started recovering from Wolves, it's time to throw Grizzlies at at them, no thanks.
Another concern for me is that this is just one more avenue to make a criminal out of an outdoorsman. If I come across a Grizzly in the wild, I will shoot it no matter how it's acting or...
Nice pics!
I wouldn't hesitate to take that buck either :)
I would guess 170 class based on weak fronts and narrowness. A lot of guys with more experience than I are saying 180 class though.
What does it typically take to make up for weak fronts on a Buck?
Glad to hear you got the insulated air core rather than the air core, it is better suited for backpack hunts. 4.1 should be fine for most of the conditions you will encounter. Another bit of trivia here is that the coldest part of the day is at sun up. Your out of your bag by then :)
Well I'm a little late to reply but I'll give you my thoughts and experiences anyways.
The BA air core pad is not adequate for most backpacking hunts. It has an R-value of 1.5, you need at least 5.0 to get below 30* in relative comfort. Sleeping pads are often overlooked and this is what...
The burn areas in the south end of unit 27 that I have been into are doing pretty good with Deer, but it still took 3 days to find bucks in the one spot. Nice Bucks when you find them though.
One of the toughest areas to hunt. The tag will be worth the adventure and scenery though, especially if you get a shot on a wolf. High meadows surrounded by Goat country are always a good bet, but there will be a lot of empty ones it that country.
I never understood how tagging the animal would work out when your on a solo backpack Elk hunt. It takes me 3 or 4 loads to get it out, so there is a lot of parts that have no tag. If I only tagged the last load of meat, then there would be antlers and 3/4 of an Elk in the back of my truck...
