    Whats your most accurate rifle?

When I do my part I have 5 rifles hunting rifles that shoot under and 1 to .75 of an inch at 100 yards. My most recent is a Tikka in 6.5 creed more, two Kimber Classic selects that are in 270 and 300WM, a Forbes 24 (predecessor to the Fieldcraft) in a 270. The most accurate is a SAKO 85 in 30/06...

Your favorite 06 load for elk?

165 grain Hornady Interbond with 56.5 of RL 17, CCI 200 Win brass. Average over the magneto speed is 2870 fps from a 22.4 inch SAKO 85. Sweet load, 4 elk with 3 complete pass throughs. Very accurate load in the SAKO.

    Nosler vs federal

I hunt with the Interbonds and love them. They are accurate in my rifles and have great terminal performance. Hornady has had a problem keeping them in supply. They have also gone away from bonded bullets and back to their cup and core type long range bullets. I primarily hunt elk, deer and...

    I Need Some Honest Opinions

A couple of more options: First, I'm in the same boat at 69 I will not be packing out a bull elk. I also live in Colorado and elk hunting is my favorite hobby. There are two electric assist game carts made in Utah that can carry a lot of elk meat. You can't use them in the wilderness area but...

Reccomended rifle for shooting out to 1000 yards

This is a hot button for me. Sorry! I have no problem shooting at steel at whatever range you want. An animal is a whole different ballgame. I was recently shooting at some steel with my 6.5 in a gusty 10+ crosswind off a bench at 700 yds. If I guessed correctly when the wind would let up and...

    My Two-year HOWA Experiment

I really like the CDS system but I use it a little differently than just the custom made turret. During the summer I shoot target bullets (similar ballistic coefficient ) at paper and steel from hunting positions using the MOA turret. In my case I shoot ballistic tips for target then switch to...

    My Two-year HOWA Experiment

Interesting, two of most popular cartridges in your survey (30-06 and the 270 Win) were left out. The magnum cartridges will meet anyones needs for hunting in the west. I think I'll keep my 06 and 270 vs the 308, 7mm-08 or 6.5. Wishing you luck. Any of the cartridges listed are fine. I'm just...

    I've about had enough

My action tomorrow is to go to the local (regional HQ for the Colorado Game and Fish) and ask if my personal information is protected? What are the rules for a FOIA requests? Why does the Game and Fish need some of the personal information for a hunting or fishing licenses? Next stop will be my...

    I've about had enough

This is a very troubling. It would be interesting to find out if others in the industry (meat eater, eastmans, etc) are being targeted by these hair balls. Folks, this is not just an attack on someone who works very hard to provide a quality product but also works very hard for preservation of...

    Must be tough

Sometimes I wonder if people ever take a "pause-for-the-cause," and think about what they are about to post. Rinella and Newberg are the best in the industry and are the ambassadors for the sport that I love. The petty jealousy over what a person makes (so flipping what) God bless him. Both...

    Forbes 24B

I own a 24B in a 270. I am very happy with the rig and my Leupold scope. The rifle has taken a cow elk, large mule deer, and two antelope all in Wyoming. The grand total of shots has been 4. It will shoot bug spots on targets and weights with the scope and all loaded up 6lbs 11 oz. A great...
