Well I have a few of those,
I was given a 1951 Savage Model 99EG in 300 Savage about 18 years ago, it still puts 3 into 1-1/8" and 5 into 2". I have a 1974 Winchester Model 94 in 30-30 Win and a 1980 Marlin Model 375 (336) in 375 Winchester. My pump gun is an early 70's Savage Model...
I have always had good luck with Lee (over 20 years with no problems), one of my buddies has used a Rock Chucker for at least 10 years. Just don't buy a "no name", I did that once. I sent it back the next day.
Happy New Year
Haven't been here in a while, (computer issues) but I managed to save all my Gun Porn! Yay!
Just a taste! :D I really like short, fast handling, woods carbines; :hump:
Spanish 7mm mauser,
Model 94 in 30-30 Win,
and a Marlin in 375 Win
Stock it!
haven't been here in quite some time, (computer issues) but here goes.
Realizing I'm late to the show, take a look at Boyd's Stocks "Prairie Hunter" , it directs recoil very well for me (6' & 200 lbs) in my 8mm Mauser which I hand load to 06 levels. :D
I also have one on a Spanish...
"mtlion" is right, the ears can be used for a quick judge process, if the prongs come off at the top of the ears or above he's a good one ! If the horns are taller than twice the ear height he's a good one ! If mass is as wide or wider than an ear he's a good one ! If he has all of the above...
If they are dumb enough to fly into a shooting zone, so be it. That was legitimate hunting on private property, they are trespassing.
It sure seems like a great waste of time & money on their part, Why don't they look for poachers instead?
nice targets
I had a Savage 110 in 270 (pre Accu-Trigger) that would do that @ 100 yards with any 150grn ammo I put through it. The 130's not so much, of course I was 25 years younger and could actually see 100 yards( LMAO). True some rifles will need some tinkering, but I have a couple that...

I haven't bedded either one, the walnut one (large ring), was free floated from the receiver ring forward, I'm getting 1-1/4" @ 100 yds with 180 grn Nosler Ballistic Tips (8x57 mauser). It also has a Timney trigger & Pentax scope. That's a 60+ yr old action & barrel, I have taken two...

Lookin Good !!, The color will really sweeten up when you apply the finish. I have two Boyd's; on mausers (monte carlo design), a walnut on the large ring and a pepper laminate on the small ring, I ordered both unfinished
I sanded with 180, 220, 320 and 440 ; 10 coats of Tru Oil on...
Not the big "H&H" cannon (although nothing wrong with it), I was at the range a few days ago testing some hand-loads, when I noticed a few younger guys ( 20- something year old AR / M4 fans) checking me out.
Nothing spectacular 2"-3" @ 100 with peep sights, but it launches a 200 grn FP @ 2400...
Savage 99 in 300 Savage
This is my version, dated from 1951 and still puts three into 3/4" with 165 grn Grand Slams, five opens up to 1-1/2", I can live with it! :hump:
I have used this in the rain and snow, no problems, just a thorough cleaning when done, nothing against synthetics (I even own...
I hunted in Wyoming with a guy who used a 257 Weatherby on prairie goats and a muley with 115 grn TSX , man was that thing devastating on animals, muley was 340 yards, freakin awesome gun/bullet combo !!
9.3 all the way
new here, but not new to mausers, have a few 8mm's and a couple 7mm's, that said the 9.3 equals the 35 whelen until you step up to 270 or 286 grainers then it really shines, with solids it will take on Cape Buffalo, so anything on this continent isn't safe. The 232 & 250 grain...
