    Bears are awake!

I looked at some stuff around 7000 ft in SE MT. Still a lot of snow. The stuff that is open doesn’t have any green on it yet.

    2016 Hunt Talk Bear Hunt

Might have killed it a day before the Hunttalker officially started but here is a wilderness bear from my time up there in Montana. Spotted the bear on Tuesday night after I hiked in. Figured it was the first day of hunting so I let it be. Went back to glass in the am and it was still there...

    October archery elk tactics

Spent the last 5 days chasing elk in Montana. No luck yet. Just curious what your guys strategy is in October if it changes at all. Game bags

Tag bags from pristine adventures are pretty good too. Same thing as the caribou game bags.

Bow case: soft or hard side?

Check out the cabelas armor extreme lite tactical case. If you have a bow under 36 inches in length it works perfect. I think it is designed for ar-15 type rifles but it is compact and very durable. I have been using one for a few years now. Plus they have them on sale for $75.

WTB 6 person tipi with stove

I just picked up bear paw wilderness designs luna 4. Plenty of room for 2 guys with gear and a stove. I got a lite outdoors 18" regular stove based on the owners recommendation for that size of tipi. Don't have the stove yet so I can't speak about that, but the tipi is nice. $345 to my door...

Camo for out west (western Montana/Idaho)

I agree with the lighter colors of camo or solids. I like dry earth, greens, grey in solids or asat, kuiu or fusion for camo. You can get outfitter camo from cabelas in their light weight space rain gear. It is pretty thin and probably won't hold up in heavy brush though.

Camo for out west (western Montana/Idaho)

The rain suede is nice and quiet but it soaks up water and gets heavy if you are getting dumped on. Are you on a backpack type hunt where weight matters or hunting out of a truck/basecamp?
