One brand I don't see mentioned much is Salewa.
I've had the Mountain Trainer Mid for the past 5 years and really like them.
It is on the lighter sides, but I haven't found myself wanting more boot.
Good fit out of the box that got better with use.
Check out El Vaquero Loco outside of Afton, WY.
I ran the 50K a few years ago, but there is also a 25K option.

I've been using a pair of cheaper insulated hunting boots for cold and deep snow, but my feet just can't take it any longer.
For those who use pacs from Kenetrek, Schnee's, what's a reasonable amount of miles you can do in them before it gets uncomfortable?
Would I be better off doing something...
I've had good results (it's the only way I've cooked it) with a reverse sear method. Basically you cook it on low heat (~200*) until you get your desired internal temperature then crank the heat and put it back in to get your crust. If done correctly, it prevents grey colored meat around the...
Before I made a stink at the store, I figured I should look into this.
I went to purchase a rifle today. For the back ground check, I had my valid driver's license, but it doesn't have my current address. I also had my hunting/fishing license with my current address.
My understanding was that...
We have had a Roku 2 XD for about 4 years. It handles all our streaming (Hulu, Netflix, Amazon) without problems. We also picked up a Roku TV from Costco. We can have the box streaming, TV streaming, and someone on the computer and we don't have any issues. We just have the basic internet cable...
Check out Dr. Hackett's site http://www.altitudemedicine.org/
It has some good information.
You can talk to your doctor about doing some Diamox.
Don't know if you'd need it only going up to 10K, but it has been shown to help acclimatization.
I've been looking at possibly making a move to Star Valley from the SLC area.
I would most likely be working in the northern part of the valley.
I've only driven through there a couple of times, but I like what I've seen.
On paper, it looks like a no brainer, but I'd like some boots on the...
I'm pretty gun naive so you'll have to tell me what I came in to.
I was mistaken about it being a model 70, there is no model number, just a Winchester stamp.
In addition to the .280, I received a Winchester (no model stamp) .25-06 with a walnut stock, a Remington 788 .222 rem, and a 12 gauge...
Do swivel stud openings come in different sizes?
I inherited a Winchester Model 70 7mm Express and the sling that fits my other rifles doesn't fit this one.
As I've looked around at swivel studs, I can't find anywhere that specifies the size of the opening.
Do I need to replace the studs, or are...
We got a Springbar tent as a wedding present and 10 years later it's still going strong.
Definitely a burly setup.
It takes up a lot of room, and isn't the most practical thing for quick overnighters, but it is great for longer trips.
