Made two trips to New Mexico this year. One specifically for grouse and the other for mule deer. Found plenty of them on both trips. We managed 18 between 4 hunters over 2 days of hard hunting. Found most of them around 11,500 feet or higher. Right at the timber line.
Thought some of ya'll might enjoy Randy's insight on our show this weekend. He was nice enough to visit with us for over a half hour and we covered alot of stuff. Most of these stations will be streaming live but if your out hunting then check out the podcast next week. Anyway, here is the...
Studies vary on whether or not yotes really put a dent in the mature whitetail herd. We know they can do a number on fawns. But this video- which was apparently filmed by a South Carolina trail cam shows it's pretty clear they do successfully take down adult deer.
Time to break out the Howa...
Wanted your thoughts on whether or not it's necessary to carry both when packing into the mountains for a week. Weight/Space is going to be at a premium since our spike camp will likely be around 11,500 for our New Mexico mule deer hunt.
I have a nice pair of Nikon 10 x 42 binos. The unit I am...
Thought some of ya'll might enjoy our interview. Steven was kind enough to give us 45 minutes of his time. Helluva guy and other than Randy- his is about as pure a hunting show out there. I really enjoyed the new book.

Took the dawgs out for training today and sweet Belle was full throttle as usual! 55 lbs of fury.
Old Maverick still enjoys getting out as well. Just moves a little slower than he used to LOL. Turned 10 last month. This will be his last season. May only hunt him a couple times.
Trained at...
Folks had been hunting this way in California since before game animals were ever managed. Dogs have been a hunting tool for humans since we first domesticated them thousands of years ago. Give the HSUS and inch and they will take a mile.

My first choice!!! Never applied for New Mexico before this year. Hunt is from Oct 20-24. Anybody else get drawn for this hunt? Any info from previous years would be great as well. I am going to be heading from Texas. I know the Carson National Forest a little bit as I have fly fished and grouse...
I will be interviewing Casey on the Lone Star Outdoors Show this weekend. I really enjoyed Dropped and know alot of ya'll did as well. If you have any specific questions you would like me to ask him please post them up and I will get answers for ya. Seems like a great fella.
Going to put in for Elk, Antelope and Mule Deer. Never have applied for big game in NM, but have hunted grouse and fly fished there for almost 10 years. Usually in the Carson National Forest. Only have killed one buck (whitetail) with my bow and am not confident enough past 40 yds to feel good...
We trap the hell outta these pests. This little guy came into the feeder pen today. Got these photos from the live feed. Little did he know that my buddy can trip the trap with a button on his cell phone.

Went out with my brother and a friend today. Not many birds in the area. Have gotten alot of rain in Texas over the past month. Birds were concentrated and now are spread out far and wide with new food sources available. Still had a good time even though the birds were few and far between. Got...
My name is Cable and I host a hunting and fishing radio show in Texas for a living. Don't have much big game experience other than whitetails and hogs. Looking foward to learning alot from you folks. Just thought I would introduce myself.
