Morning,
I know that the colorado elk draw results are not out until next month. Last Sunday I got an email CPW that I needed to update my payment in info to process any future awarded tags or fees. Anyone else get this email.. is there a chance the draw has already occurred but they just wait...
Looking for some suggestions or recommendations on which route to go for an upcoming elk hunt. I was looking into the portable models not ones that attach onto the rifle.
I don’t have experience using either. Just want to have a stable rest that can be set up quickly.
Thanks in advance
Thanks for the input. I also get worried about the bottom of the product line not just with scopes but with any outdoor gear. With a 30-06 I know there is some significant bullet drop out at 400yds which is why I was thinking CDS. However in taking to a leupold rep he cautioned that the dial...
Looking for opinions on the Leopoldo scope line up. I have a Remington 700 30-06 that I am getting set up for a Colorado rifle elk hunt next season. Any opinions on the Leupold VX Freedom vs the Leupold VX3i? I'm leaning towards the CDS in whatever model I go with but don't see myself shooting...
I am considering getting a bugle tube as I have been practicing bugling with mouth calls. I already have a promos terminator bugle that I have used on previous hunts. Would getting a bugle tube be worth the extra money? Do they sound different or more realistic then what I already have.
Thanks
Would a 581 code be on file if you put down the option of ..
If unsuccessful in the draw send me an OTC either sex archery.
Trying to figure out if I drew my first choice of a
Bull muzzy tag..
This is great advice and a huge help for someone that has been out of the rifle game for a while.
Given where we hunt, along with my hunting style, it sounds like I don't need to mess with the CDS systems.
My budget would put me in the range of the Leopold vx-2 or something comparable. Any...
Thanks for the advice. I never really noticed much of an issue with the set up on my gum. However, it's only been used for PA and WI whitetail hunting, a few days each season. I got the gun from my grandpa, and he always liked the flip over mounts for use during deer drives.
Anyways...

I am considering an OTC rifle hunt in CO this year. It would be my first rifle hunt for elk, we have done archery and muzzleloader the last 5 years.
I have a rem 700 30.06 topped with a late 90s flip over mount tasco golden antler scope.
My question are:
- is it worth upgrading to a new scope...
We went with that combination after some online resources and a few guys on here suggested 70-80 grains of the 209. They thought more powder made their groups less consistent. It seems like that combination will put that bullet into the center of a 10 in target at 100 yds , but it's hard to be...
Anyone have any idea of the height of front sight to use with a cva optima?
Leaning towards then Williams peep but want to make sure I order the right size front "Patridge" sight!
I am shooting the 460 grain no excuse bullet
80 gr of blackhorn 209
Cci magnum primers
Haven't tried shooting at 75.. The range I've been going to only has 25,50, and 100 yd stations.
Thanks for the insight..
This may be a dumb question but...
Would you have to remove the current fiberoptic rear sight to install a Williams peep? Is that sight screwed into the barrel?
Also would you need a new front sight if you went with a peep ?
I drew a tag to muzzleloader hunt in colorado this fall.
I am shooting a CVA optima v2 with the stock fiber optic sights. blackhorn 209 powder with no excuse bullets 460 grain.
At 50 yards I can shoot a consistent group, but move out to 100 yards and the consistency drops dramatically. Seems...
My buddy and I drew a limited entry muzzleloader tag for Colorado this fall. We have bow hunted the last few years, so this will be our first experience using muzzleloaders. We each have a CVA optima V2 and plan on using Blackhorn 209 powder.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what type of 209...
