What's an oolu knife?
there are actually many different styles of ulu, each particular to a certain region or people. i am just getting used to mine, and it is definately faster than a conventional blade for me. skinned and quartered a smallish black bear in under 40 minutes ( on a rolling boat). i can't wait to try...- homerdave

ovis- my boat is not actually in the picture, i have it on the side of the harbor that is off to the left of the photo.i dont fish much for halibut, just catch them occasionally while trolling for feeder kings. enough to keep me in fillets. i am not sure, but i think you may have been through...- homerdave

most charters here that bear hunt do so about now, and by june are pretty much switched over to halibut. i am leaving tommorrow for a 5 day hunt on the outer coast ( go figure!!), and will get back to you when i return. exactly which 3-4 days in june are you considering? more bears earlier...- homerdave

yes, blackies are open, and yes they can be hunted out of homer. you would need to book transport to the outer coast of the peninsula. early in june is better. rubbing is not as much of an issue as the fact thet with green-up you can neither spot bears on the hillsides nor get to them if you...- homerdave
