    7mm-08 powder start

    I went through a slew of powders and wasted a lot of time & $$$. For me Varget and RL-15 became my 'GoTo' powders, from 120's to 150's. In my Ruger 77, I don't fret much over which. If either one is on the shelf I grab it and run, but I sway towards Varget.

    Your Varget data pretty much falls in line with what I'm getting. I get 2760 fps with 42.5 gr. out of a 22" barrel.

    Strange Varget isn't working for you. It's a Go-To powder for a ton of us. I know RL-15 very well in my 7/08 and gives me respectable groups & velocity. At 200 yds, or less, you won't need sub MOA. Don't waste time/$$/frustrations chasing it.
