My pard did a guided hunt in western Alaska this past month. His guide put him on a nice blackie, almost 6ft squared...
It died in a creek...took a bit of effort to fish him out, but man what a trophy....
I put a video clip together from our Spring Fling bear hunt. It's hosted here: Fling Video in the pictures section -DavidAk311 Trailer.
It's a large file, approx 585mb and runs for something under 3 minutes. Those of you who have broadband may enjoy taking a look.
You'll likely have to...
We made it out for an overnight trip on opening day. We saw around 15 deer, 4 of which were bucks, but no big ones. We were mainly scouting a new area, and trying out some new gear (camera, vidcam, hammock).
I posted these elsewhere on other forums, and thought I'd share them here also....

Here are some pics from last week. We were pretty drunk, and good pics were hard to get. Roosterfish were the main reason for the trip, though the yellowfin tuna and striped marlin were a welcome addition....
Here are some pictures from the last few weeks. I spent about 6 weeks chasing bears and steelhead with some friends. In all, we took 5 black bear and a helluva lot of steelies. The weather kicked ass, as did the company.
Sorry if it takes too long to load this post...let me know if...
Just got last year's bears back from the taxidermist. It turned out pretty good. I shot it in May last year, in SE Alaska. Sure has a nice gloss, and squared out right at 7 feet....

Thought I'd share a couple pics of 3 deer we got last Sunday. The weather was pretty tough all week, but Sunday was clear and crisp, and the bucks were moving.
I like the reddish tint to the antlers..
Anybody else try for blacktails lately?

These pics are of my brother’s stalk with his bow…

Just got back from a couple weeks of bear hunting in Southeast. Met BW for the first time and had a blast hanging out with him while hunting for brown bear. Brian and I didn't get a bear, but a friend of mine and his dad managed to get a smallish one on the last day of their hunt. The weather...
These aren't the best photos, but here are two blacktail headmounts I recently got back from taxidermy..the deer were killed on Kodiak....thought you might like to see 'em..

Howdy everyone,
Just got my first look at the mount of a moose I took a couple years ago, it was shipped to a friend's house when finished, and I just saw it yesterday...thought I'd share a quick photo of it..
good hunting,
dave
I found some photos of a musk ox hunt I went on a couple years ago, Nunivak Island Alaska. A friend drew the permit, so I went along for the trip.
Thought I would post one of the photos...

Here are some notes I made about some of the gear I used over the past couple weeks of hunting...
Bibler Tripod Bivy Tent- This is a pretty impressive tent. It’s light, packs easy, sets up easy, and is fairly roomy inside (for a bivy style tent). It withstood wind and rain like a champ, with...
Well, I had a good two weeks off..one week hunting Mulchatna caribou and one week hunting Prince William Sound for black bear.
We saw a few bears on the boat trip in, but didn't get any bears on the hunt. Due to some miscommunication, we ended up not having a raft for the trip..hiking the...
I rented one in Anchorage for a week during my May black bear hunt. The price was $125 for the week, plus usage. Can't remember what the cost per minute turned out to be, I wasn't going to use it unless I needed it but I ended up trying it out a couple times just to see how it worked...
This is a link to the photo album of my brother and myself. It's imagestation, so you have to register, but you can opt out of the email BS and it only takes a second.
Some of these pictures have been posted here, but I figure what the heck

Still have 3 weeks before my PWS black bear hunt..I'm getting antsy.
I went to the range and sighted in my .375. I'm going to make as many trips as I can between now and the hunt to get a feel for it.
Had a hard time choosing bullets..I like Noslers but could only find them in 300gr and my...
